If you had been sitting at a desk in that classroom and a gunman barges into the classroom and starts systematically executing students, would you not want the student next to you, trained to carry a concealed weapon, to have their gun with them, so that there was a chance you would survive?
There is nothing Hollywood about the reality of taking another’s life. Also, if you had taken a handgun self-defense course, as required for CHL’s, you would know that you do not shoot at someone’s head, you aim for the center of the body, to reduce the chance of missing. It seems that following your train of thought, since there is a slight chance of someone else getting hurt if a student takes action against the gunman, then the student should just do nothing and accept his own imminent death and the imminent death of the other students. Is that really rational thought? You liken me to a wanna-be superhero. Ma’am I am a law-abiding, college student. I have passed a background check and have been trained to carry a handgun. All I want is to be able to protect my life when it is in imminent danger. Is that too much to ask? Thank you for reading this, I look forward to your response to this e-mail.
