Can someone please explain to me what is legal as far as carrying a gun in a car w/o a ccw. What I thought is your good if you got the gun a box or case in the back of the car and have the ammo in a diff case away from the gun, can someone tell me is that right.

If the vehicle is a kind that allows you to keep the gun and ammo in seperate compartments (for example the firearm in the trunk, ammo in the passenger compartment), that method complies the best. Now if we're talking a pickup, van, SUV, etc. you must keep the gun and ammo as seperated as possible, so that it would not be feasible to produce a loaded weapon without stopping the vehicle and leaving the driver's seat.
Some whiz-bang computer savvy contributor to this site like jabeatty can doubtless punch up the exact Ohio Revised Code wording and post it here, I'm just giving you a working definition.
Also, this should make it obvious that going ahead and getting your Ohio CHL is a very good idea; a gun you can't legally store in such a way as to get to in a hurry is potentially useless in a life and death situation.

You owe me a box of monitor wipes...

I can bring monitor wipes to the OFCC Picnic, Jim. Do you want plain or fresh-scent?
