Does anyone open carry in NE ohio, near the willoughby, willowick, euclid area? Also what was the worst situation you've been in while open carrying, in terms of law enforcement? Are there any papers you should carry with you while OC? Last are you allowed to take a concealed carry class if your under 21. The reason I ask is I want to take the class in a year when I'm 20, and then apply for my license on my 21 b-day. Thanks in advance for all the input.

Welcome!!!
I'll put in my 2c.

It seems that as far as geography goes, more OCers tend to be in the southern part of the state. Perhaps it is just more accepted here, but after 347, the law links us as one.

I have never had an encounter with a LEO, but I am sure some of the other members here have logged more hours than I have.

Prior to 347, I used to carry a copy of Klein v Leis, as well as the wording for a few misdemeanors people "ALLEGE" you may be cited for. After 347, I don't carry anything but my ID and CHL.

I do not believe that you are prohibited from completing the training requirement prior to your 21st Bday. Find an instructor, explain your plan, and I bet people will be willing to help.

Hope this helps. Hope you stick around.

welcome to the forum.

I have not had any encounter with LE either. I carry klein v leis still and a copy of the quote from 347 that includes "concealed or openly"

Just wondering, what is your firearm experience?

Well I got my first .22 air rifle when I was 12 then was given a .22 ruger single six (great gun) and a .22 mossberg bolt when I was 14. I was given a short lesson at the local shooting range on basic safety and etiquete, but most of my knowledge comes from my father who was an nra instructor a long time ago when it was offered at the YMCA. Right now I'm 19, and proud to say that I'm an nra member. I try to go out to the range at least twice a month, but it's kinda hard since I'm still in school. Over summer I intend on getting into skeet, and trap.
