Over on the ohioccw forum under an OC topic, many people are saying that they are scared that the places they go will become cpzs because the owners will find out that law abiding citizens are carrying guns.

I posted this:

Quote:
If a business owner sees my sidearm, and posts a gunbuster sign, then I am glad that the business owner is telling me that he does not support my right to self defense, and there for I will know not to support his business.

If he were not to see my sidearm, and not post a sign, I would be financially supporting a company or individual business owner that does not support my right to self defense, but just didn't think about putting up signs

If I could, I would inform every single business about the fact that they can put up signs to make sure there are no armed law abiding citizens in their business.

At least then I would not be supporting those that wish to take away my rights.

how do you guys feel about open carry causing more gunbuster signs to go up?

I think it would happen more than a little bit, unfortunately. Justified or not (to quote my pal gunwriter Rick Miller: "Whoever said life is fair?"), there are some business owners who would do this after receiving as few as one or two bleating complaints.

Couple the open carry with someone who isn't cut in the 'corporate image', carrying the gun in a ratty looking inexpensive holster, or just IWB sans holster, it would likely cast aspersions on the practice of open carry. Honestly, haven't we all seen somebody at a gunshow that gave us pause, when we thought of them actually owning, much less toting a firearm? And heck, we LIKE guns and their owners, as a rule, to begin with.

Oh, and let me wish myself a warm welcome, after this first post maybe nobody else here will do it! Laughing

lol, but we see some very questionable characters driving cars/operating heavy machinery(ie semis, dump trucks, box trucks), but we still drive at 70 mph within feet of them, with our kids, family, and loved ones strapped in beside us.

Hmm, If you walked into our shop OC'ing, I'd probably walk up, and say hi!

Might ask about your rig... I'm looking for a new rig...

I can't say that would cause me to wanna post, nor any of the managers...

Besides, we've got enough crap on the door as is. I had to move a dang poster, just to put up the smokebuster sign. Smile

I have been open carrying a little more of late, but try not to look like a crumb bum when doing it.
