I would rather throw rocks...........Then carry a .40
1911 or .357 revolver..........My choices
Really I just had a bad exp. with a 40 S&W and really not the caliber.
I bought a beretta from one of the guys on ofcc...........The damn decocker just sucked..........I was use to carrying cocked and locked, No other way except a revolver ...........So I just sold all 40 stuff and stayed with my the.45 and my revolvers................So I really can't fault the caliber because I only shot it several times I just associate the 40 S&W with a decocker...................
Any company that would put a decocker on a gun is .......Well, Twisted
Splat I know what you mean about a bad experience with a particular firearm sorta prejudicing one against the whole caliber, brand, whatever. For example I've owned two KelTec P-32s and one 3AT. (Just for potential BUG use.) Couldn't get any of them to run near 100%, so in my mind the things have been written off completely. However it seems that lots of other people have ones that work reliably, so I try my darndest not to slam them on the internet about their choice.
Same thing goes for me with Taurus semiautos and revolvers, bad experiences personally, and Hi Points--based only on what I've observed, never owned one.
Anyhow back to what you were saying about ammo. Next to a big heavy gunsafe, a chronograph was probably the best gun-money I've ever spent. With the roughly 4.75" barrel of the Hi Power, there are jhp loadings in both 9mm and .40 that are going fast enough to satisfy my needs for hide protection duty.
